Wednesday night around 11:50 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of E. South Street for gunshots heard in the area.

A second call was taken saying that a male victim had been shot at the location. Officers arrived on the scene and found a man shot in the chest and a second man struck in the head with a rifle stock.

Responding officers were told that two male suspects had fled the scene. Officers observed the two suspects fleeing the scene about one block from the scene near the intersection of Houston and Martin. One of the suspects Nicholas Rinche, 19, from Kilgore, was arrested by authorities after a brief foot chase.

The second suspect, Thanh Nugyen, 19, was arrested after he approached officers taking Rinche into custody.

The victim who had received the gunshot wound to the chest was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both Rinche and Nguyen were taken to jail and charged with Aggravated Robbery.
