Business in Longview is thriving. Two Longview companies have been recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce's "Blue Ribbon Small Business Award", Baxter Clean Care and Computerland Technology, now known as Cynergy Technology by Computerland.

The award recognizes the top 100 companies in the nation who are committed to free enterprise and restoring jobs and supporting economic growth.

Baxter Clean Care sells janitorial supplies and has been in Longview for 76 years, General Manager Jerry Russell says winning such an award is motivating.

"It does let you know that your peers and other businesses think you might be doing something right..and we work at that..really hard."

Computerland Technology of East Texas is based in Longview and has a location in Tyler. COO Kevin Roper says the win came as quite a shock.

" Quite frankly a big surprise..the competition was fierce and the field was wide."

But, he says the goals of the business kept them in the game.

" To elate the customer..embrace change..and be a contributing member of the community."

Russell says their secret to success is simple.

" Great people..and that's understated..but we work really hard at that."
