Two spring graduations set for Friday; Kilgore mayor will speak

Kilgore College will host two spring graduation ceremonies Friday with the possibility of awarding 580 degrees and certificates.

The two graduation ceremonies are set for 5:30 and 8 p.m. May 10 in Dodson Auditorium on the Kilgore campus.

The 5:30 p.m. ceremony will include students receiving Associate of Applied Science and Certificates of Completion.

At 8 p.m., Associate of Arts, Associate of Arts in Teaching and Associate of Science degrees will be awarded.

KC alumnus and Kilgore mayor Ronnie Spradlin will give the commencement address.

Spradlin, owner of Kilgore’s East Texas Lumber, was a Rangerette manager while he attended KC. He then transferred to UT Tyler where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance.

His serving his third term as mayor, served Kilgore four years as a city council member and is currently a board member of Kilgore National Bank

He was also a past recipient of Kilgore’s Citizen of the Year award and was named a Distinguished Alumnus by UT Tyler.

Spradlin, son of longtime KC board member Ronald E. “Sonny” Spradlin, is also co-founder and past president of the Kilgore Historical Foundation and the Kilgore Boys and Girls Club.
