Becker and McPherson make the list
Houston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; When it comes to wine, Texas isn't really known as the premiere destination for quality, but the state's reputation is changing as the industry develops.
Two vineyards from Texas, Becker Vineyards in Stonewall and McPherson Cellars in Lubbock, both made Daily Meal's list of the 101 Best Wineries in the United States. They were number 93 and 87 respectively on the list.
The publication solicited nominees for the list from sommeliers, wine writers, chefs and restaurateurs. A handful of experts then graded each vintner based on wine quality, consistency and value.
The list is, of course, dominated by vineyards in California, but in an accompanying article, the editors make a point to recognize wine-making efforts that are now in place in all 50 states.
