Traffic was congested on Highway 69 in Lindale while TxDOT crews worked to clear a spill from several days ago.

On July 15, a tanker carrying a lubricant was involved in a wreck in front of Petty's Steak & Catfish in Lindale. Chemicals were spilled onto the road and dried. Workers are trying to grind away the substance.

Traffic is slowed on 69 from FM 16 to FM 1804.

According to Public Information Officer Larry Krantz, the liquid is believed to be a fracking fluid. The situation was made worse when firefighters sprayed the fluid with water to clear the scene. Unbeknownst to the fire crews, water was being absorbed by the substance and made a "blob" of sorts on the surface.

Portions of the road's surface were replaced by TxDOT crews. Construction was finished around 4 p.m.
