TxDot plans road projects for 2013

Millions of dollars worth of highway construction projects are scheduled across Northeast Texas in the coming year, including a $3.5 million effort to widen and add curbs and gutters to Marshall Avenue in Longview.

Close to $2 million in road construction projects in and around Kilgore and $14 million for work on George Richey Road in Longview are also planned.

Here is a look at projects that received final or tentative approval for 2013:

Gregg County

U.S. 80 (Marshall Avenue in Longview) — Widening to accommodate continuous left-turn lane and adding curb-and-gutter between Texas 42 in White Oak and Fisher Road in Longview. The $3.5 million project is scheduled to begin this spring. Reynolds & Kay Ltd. of Tyler, is the contractor.

U.S. 259 — Constructing a left-turn lane at Synergy Park in Kilgore. The estimated $450,000 project is scheduled to let to contract in August.

FM 349 — Widening to accommodate continuous left-turn lane in Kilgore between Texas 31/U.S. 259 Business intersection and railroad bridge west of U.S. 259 (Kilgore bypass). The estimated $1.2 million project is scheduled to let to contract in August.

Texas 42 — Widening to accommodate continuous left-turn lane in Kilgore between Texas 31 and Interstate 20. The estimated $600,000 project is scheduled to let to contract in August.

FM 2275 (George Richey Road in Longview) — Building the second segment of a new four-lane divided roadway between McCann Road and Spur 502 (Judson Road). The estimated $8 million project is scheduled to let to contract in August.

FM 2275 (George Richey Road) – Building the third segment of new four-lane divided roadway between Spur 502 (Judson Road) and U.S. 259. The estimated $6 million project is scheduled to let in August.
