AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHED DAILY SENTINEL:
Nacogdoches residents who frequently travel on University Drive south of Main Street may have already experienced a slower commute recently due to roadway construction.
Texas Department of Transportation began rehabilitating the roadway, and the construction should run from University Drive at Loop 224 to the light at Main Street. Traffic from MLK Drive to Loop 224 has already been moved to two lanes on the west side of the roadway since the east side is under construction. After construction on the east side is complete, traffic will be moved to the opposite side so the west side can be rebuilt as well. The entire project will span a length of 1.5 miles.
