A new website could bring lots of needed funding to east Texas animal shelters.

The new website is the brainchild of Tyler resident Chris Ruben.

It's called AdoptAShelter.com, and is an easy way for anyone to give back to their favorite animal shelter.

Anyone in the country can go online, choose an animal shelter, and then shop.

Ruben says his new company has partnered with 500 online merchants so far, including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, PetSmart, Best Buy and more.

The site gets a commission, and directs 100 percent of the donation displayed for that store to your chosen shelter.

The Humane Society of East Texas is excited about the possibilities the website could bring.

"I think that now that people are really feeling more comfortable to order online," said Gayle Helms of The Humane Society of East Texas. "Especially when it can go to an organization that you really support and are passionate about, I think it's a win win win situation."

AdoptAShelter.com officially launched this weekend.
