Tyler charter school breaks ground on new middle school

Tyler Tx (KETK) - — School boards around East Texas are wanting to build or rebuild schools by issuing bonds.
But at the same time, one area charter school has already started building new facilities, all without school bonds.
Cumberland Academy in Tyler broke ground on a new middle school building last week.
Unlike public schools, this eight million dollar project will not cost Tyler taxpayers anything.
Charter schools get money through the foundation for school program, with a small percentage of their budget coming from federal funds, but not from local taxes.
Cumberland principal James Moyers tells KETK, it gives parents more of a choice when they decide on schools.
Moyers tells KETK the new middle school should be ready for students this coming august.

People here in Tyler want to rebuild their school and build a new charter school by issuing binds. But at the mean time they have opened up a new school with many facilities. People should be admitting their children in charter school as they are cost effective in comparison to other public school.

Something for us all to consider as TISD has us marching to vote yet again for another 150 million dollar bond. State run education is both an education failure and a financial failure.
