Volunteers from across East Texas came together in Tyler on Saturday for the official kick-off to the 26th annual Mission Week: A Matter of the Heart.

These volunteers will work together with local churches for a series of projects. Brigman says, "We're going to do five extreme home renovations in addition to doing major projects. This year we're working with St.Paul's Children's Foundation, Tyler Junior College Wesley House, and Tyler Day Nursery."

This year there are almost six-hundred and fifty mission week volunteers, who will do everything from roofing to remodeling.

While these volunteers might be busy on different projects, they are all working on the same goal: to spread the word of God.

Mission Week volunteer Bill Routon says, "I feel like if you truly believe in Christ, that you are compelled. It's something you are compelled to do Christ's work and this is doing God's work."
