Tyler City Council sets park curfew after fatal shooting

Wednesday morning, the Tyler City Council unanimously voted to set a curfew at P.T. Cole Park after a fatal shooting took place on Tuesday, July 30.

Briana Raquel Young, 20, of Tyler was shot in P.T. Cole Park after gunfire erupted from within the park and also from a vehicle on Mockingbird Street, adjacent to the park.

Ke’Avier Jarrod Wilson-Hurd, Dennis Bendy, Rakheem Goldstein and Elisha “EJ” Williams were all arrested in connection with the shooting.

P.T. Cole Park off Vine Street in Tyler, will now be closed to the public from sunset to sunrise.

Council members are also looking to implement curfews at other parks in the city.
