TYLER— Tyler firefighters will be showing off their pink this week with an event to raise awareness for women's cancer.

On Thurday, October 15th, from 5-8 p.m. the Pink Heals Tour will be at the downtown Tyler square.

The tour will feature pink fire trucks that have been signed by thousands of people who have been affected by cancer.

Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass, a breast cancer survivor says, "This event will be an opportunity for the entire community to come out and honor those who have been affected by cancer."

The Turn Tyler Pink event will also include a performance by country singer Steve Simmons, food, children's activities, health information, free screenings and a blood drive.

The main attraction will be a special presentation by the City of Tyler to the Pink Heals Tour in honor of Tonya Malcolm, the wife of a Tyler firefighter, who died in June after battling cancer.

T-shirts can be purchased to support the cause, and all donations will be given to local cancer organizations.

Tyler is the first stop of 32 communities on the Tour's trip across the nation.
