TYLER — Tyler ISD released the following statement in regard to Tuesday's bus fire:

Forty Tyler ISD high school students were safely evacuated from their bus before an electrical fire broke out under the hood of the bus.

The fire occurred near the intersection of Azalea and Powers around 4:40 p.m. on Bus #55.

All students were evacuated and moved away from the bus prior to the start of fire and have returned home safely.

Tyler ISD officials tell KETK, a school bus caught fire late Tuesday afternoon while taking kids home from school.

Officials tell us no students were injured, and were tranferred to an alternate bus for the rest of their trip home. They were already in their neighborhood when the bus started experiencing problems.

There is no word yet what caused the fire, and it is still under investigation.
