Tyler, Tx (KETK) — A Tyler ISD school bus was hit by another vehicle Friday afternoon near the intersection of Rice Road and Old Jacksonville Highway.

At around 4:00 p.m., a special needs bus was hit by a car that had drifted into the wrong lane in the 5500 block of Old Jacksonville, according to Tyler ISD spokeswoman Dawn Parnell.

Police believe the car experienced a mechanical problem and caused it to veer toward the bus, hitting the back tire. No damage was done to the bus.

One student in a wheelchair was on board at the time of the crash, but the child was not injured. Neither driver was hurt in the accident.

The student was released by Tyler ISD at the scene.

Authorities cited the driver of the car for failure to maintain a single lane.
