Tyler ISD selected to present at statewide conference

Eleven teachers and administrators from Boulter Middle School were selected to present on various topics related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education at the annual Texas STEM Conference. The conference will be held this week, January 24-26, in San Antonio and is hosted by the Texas A&M Aggie STEM Center.

Boulter won a grant last year from the Texas Education Agency based on their transformation model of becoming a STEM Academy. Through the grant, teachers were encouraged to submit proposals to present at conferences of their choosing.

All of the proposals submitted by Boulter were selected for the conference. The following is a list of presenters and session titles:

STEM in English Language Arts and Reading: Making Real World Connections through Project Based Learning - English Language Arts and Reading Teachers Ashley Hampton and Kristen Haynes

Math Workshop in the Middle School: Making it Work - Math Teachers Jennifer Bryant and Kendra Bircher

Using the T-STEM Blueprint as a Transformational Model - Principal Misti Rasure

Parent and Community Involvement: Making the Dream a Reality - TTIPS Grant Facilitator Misty Adair

Where’s the Beef? Ensuring Standards-Based Learning Experiences within Project-Based Learning - Project Based Learning Coach Laura Miller and Math Teacher Casandra Hartsfield
