The players have changed.

The coaches have changed.

But one thing hasn't changed.

It's the winning tradition of the Tyler Lee baseball program.

The Red Raiders are in the state playoffs for the 13th straight season.

How do they do it?

"We've been fortunate to have some good players," said Lee coach David Howard. "When you have good players, you have a chance to make the playoffs."

"We've been fortunate enough to do that," Howard added.

"The coaching approach is the same," said Lee outfielder Isaiah Yates. "All the coaches pass on their methods."

"The players really buy in," Yates added.

"We're not trying to end the 13 years," said Leefirst baseman Benjamin Romines. "We want it to go as long as it can."

"For us, the 13 years are in the past." Romines added. "This is our year."

Tyler Lee lost its playoff opener Thursday night to Rowlett, 6-to-2.

It was the first game of a three-game series.

Game two will be Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Rowlett.
