The city of Kinston, North Carolina has been awarded the NJCAA DIII Baseball World Series in 2015-2017. Tyler has hosted this event since 2007, and did submit a bid to host it again.

"Obviously, I am very disappointed we did not receive the bid," said Tyler Junior College Athletic Director Tim Drain. "I know I have thoroughly enjoyed hosting this event since 2007, and I know a lot of volunteers and community members are hurting right now after hearing this news. But I know that we will put on a great show in 2014, and live up to the standards that we have set with previous tournaments.

The dates for the 2014 World Series are May 24-29th at Mike Carter Field. The popular free kids clinic featuring participating teams will be on Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm.

The Apaches won the national championship the first year the JUCO World Series was held in Tyler in 2007.
