Tyler man behind bars for assaulting victims with baseball bat

An East Texas man is now behind bars after assaulting a man and a woman with a baseball bat.

It happened at 8:00 a.m. sunday at the Economy Inn located at 3301 Mineola Highway.

Tyler Police were told that a black male was at that location assaulting residents in room 410 with a baseball bat.

Police found Jeremy Walker, 24, and Amber Garza, 26, inside the room. Both victims had been assaulted with a baseball bat. Garza was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and Walker was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle.

Information wsa given to the officers that the suspect left in a white Ford Crown Victoria.

Authorities later lcoated the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop and arrested Grover Davis, 52, of Tyler. 

Davis was booked into Smith County Jail on two charges of aggravated assault.
