A Tyler man died Thursday while working a job at a West Texas location near Seagraves, a small town southwest of Lubbock.

According to Terry County Sheriff Larry Gilbreath, James Croft, 43, of Tyler, was killed working at a K&L Oil Field Demolition job site, where they were taking down structures at Venture Chemicals.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m., dispatchers received a call for help at the site on reports of an accident. When deputies arrived, they discovered a silo cylindrical tank had fallen on Croft.

The tank -- in the process of being laid down -- fell early and on top of the excavator Croft was operating, said Gilbreath. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a local justice of the peace.

Croft is survived by his wife and five children, according to a coworker.

K&L Oil Field Demolition is a Tyler area company.
