Tyler native is finalist for Best Job in the World
TYLER - What does a teacher from Singapore, a television host from India and a communications director from Tyler have in common? They're all one of the 50 lucky finalists for the Best Job in the World Contest.
The "Best job in the World" is a contest launched by Australia's Tourism Queensland to promote the islands of the Great Barrier Reef. Stephen Rogers, 25, of Tyler is a finalist for the job that attracted over 35,000 applicants worldwide.
So what does the best job in the world look like? The winner will become the caretaker of Hamilton Island in Australia for six months while writing a blog to promote the area. The caretaker will also be responsible for several other things including counting turtles and watching whales.
Stephen and the other applicants created a 60 second tape on why they should win the $95,000 paying job.
"If everybody in East Texas voted for me just one time it would put me in first place," Rogers said.
If you would like to vote for Stephen you can cast your vote every day until March 24th.
