Tyler open carry group marches downtown

POSTED: Friday, July 4, 2014 - 6:02pm

Tyler's Open Carry group recreated the Battle of Jericho by marching around the square seven times this morning.

The group was there to exercise their second ammendment right to bear arms by open carrying their long rifles.

Many members of the group showed up before the march in support of the Republican party's reading of the Declaration of Independence.

A lot of the members involved today felt it was important to exercise their second ammendment right to assure they don't someday lose it.

Some members said people forget how we came to have the freedoms and rights we have today, which is why demonstrations and marches like the open carry march are so important.

Chairman for the Republic Party of Smith County, Eric McCormick was happy with the reading of the Declaration of Independence because it was keeping history alive.

recreated the Battle of Jericho ????? Nobody had long guns...short guns or handguns at the Battle of Jericho. Guess somebody does not know their Christian Bible......idiots

We have rifles and pistols, they have tanks and bombs. Lets talk about the parity of the second amendment.

I was there. KETK failed to mention the idiot protester with the chicken mask and the sign yelling and doing his best to disrupt the posting of the colors, reading of the Declaration of Independence and even the prayer. In typical liberal democratic fashion he showed no respect whatever until he tried to shove the sign in the face of a70 year old Vietnam War Veteran who took his sign and ripped it up right in front of him. I commend all the attendees for showing remarkable restraint.

I was there.
It was a rag tag looking group of about 18 people.
The only one praying was the preacher.
More police than spectators.
The whole show was over in 30 mins.
They got TV exposure that was unwarranted.
If they're back next year good for them it's their right.
It's not a newsworthy item.
It only serves the propaganda agenda of ketk news director Nell.
He has conspiracy theories every day.
If you're not GOP he's got no use for you.
If you want unbiased news look elsewhere.
