Tyler PD searching Old Bullard Road area for bank robber

The Tyler Police Department responded to a bank robbery that occurred Friday afternoon at Austin Bank on Old Bullard Road.

The robbery took place shortly before 4 p.m. on the 5500 block of Old Bullard near Rieck Road. Employees told authorities the robber entered the bank and handed a note to a teller. The letter stated he was armed and was robbing the business, according to Tyler Police Spokesman Don Martin.

After taking cash from the teller, the alleged gunman ran from the scene. Witnesses say they did not see him jump into a getaway vehicle.

Several customers were inside the bank at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

The robber is described as a white male, in his mid 30s, standing six feet tall, wearing a white zip up jacket and a striped shirt underneath

Officers are scouring the surrounding area for the unidentified man.
