Tyler Police Department is informing citizens of an upcoming 15K, 5K, and 1K race that will be taking place this Saturday, March 1, 2014.

The race sponsored by Fresh will start at 8:00 a.m. and end around 10:00 a.m. followed by a concert at Fresh.

The races will have more than 2,000 runners running specific courses throughout Southwest Tyler.

The outer borders of the course are as follows:

  • North side - Rice Road
  • East Side - South Broadway Avenue
  • South Side - Mahar Road
  • West Side - Old Jacksonville Highway

Tyler Police officers will be helping with traffic control at major intersections and highly traveled streets where runners are designated to run in coned off traffic lanes during the race.

Police encourage those who do not want to be inconvenienced yielding to runners to take an alternate route to avoid the areas altogether.

Officers will be giving the runners the right-of-way, but will allow traffic to flow when possible so as not to interfere with runners and their times.

We ask all motorists that may be stopped to be patient and courteous to participants and officers.
