Tyler Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 7600 block of S. Broadway at the intersection of Heritage at 1:19 p.m., Thursday, September 02, 2010 on a two vehicle roll-over pin-in crash.

A Tyler Police Officer clocked a Dark Green, Nissan Sentra, traveling north bound on S. Broadway at a high rate of speed. The officer pulled out and attempted to catch up with the speeding vehicle. The officer observed the Nissan passing other vehicles on the right shoulder near the intersection of S. Broadway and Cumberland. The Nissan continued to travel northbound and the officer determined that he would not be able to catch the speeding vehicle. The officer discontinued the attempt to catch the vehicle.

The Nissan continued North to the intersection of Heritage and S. Broadway. The Nissan crashed into the rear of a White, Toyota Camry, that was sitting in the outside traffic lane, waiting for the light to change at Heritage.

The driver of the Toyota was deceased in the over turned vehicle when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The driver was a 55 year old white male from Plano, Texas.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Jerlene Boyd, B/F age 50 (11/10/1959) of Tyler. Officers observed signs of alcohol related to the driver. The Driver was taken to ETMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Boyd was arrested for possession of marijuana and an out-standing warrant out of Smith County.

Accident Investigators responded to the scene to investigate the crash. The identification of both drivers will be released when notification has been made. Charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.

i would have to say i agree with hot36 for the fact that there is two sides and two famalies. i know the son in law of the woman and he is a great man and i have seen with my own eyes the suffering that man and his family are going through and i pray for them. and even more the family with the loss i couldnt imagine what they are goin through. but fyi from the mouth of the son in law her drug and alcohol tests came back clean i dont know that for sure but it came from the source itself....

HER SON IN LAW MUST BE DRUNK TOO.........THE REPORTS /TESTS DID NOT COME BACK CLEAN...TESTED POSITIVE FOR OPIUM,ALCOHOL,AND COCAINE....THAT'S CLEAN?
YOU TAKE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER PERSON IT IS MURDER,ESPECIALLY IF YOU WILLINGLY PUT YOURSELF INTO A POSITION OF BEING OUT OF CONTROL BE IT DRUGS,ALCOHOL,ANGER, ETC ETC,AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO DOES OR DOESN'T FORGIVE SOMEBODY,THAT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT SHE IS GUILTY OF A CRIME,AND JUSTICE SHOULD BE DONE!!!

Readin back over the terrible comments that u all wrote I had to add to what I wrote last nite: God's the only one who can judge. I know this is a very sensitive and upsetting situation, but when I read all the horrible, cruel things like sticking needles in her arm, etc, it really saddened me that there's so much hate out there. I'll be praying for everyone that God will take the hate out ya'lls hearts. Jerlene made a horrible mistake but she's no murderer. We're all sinners who make mistakes.

Yes i know that everyone has something to say. But have u ever think how her family is feeling about dis? Put yourself in their shoes you would wont to have to read all this BS that you not good a** ppl have put on here.. I know the Boyd family and i know she did not ment for dis to happen if she was on something or not. So b4 u write something think about if it was your family would you want to read it.. God know's what and why this happen so that's all you all have to say and need to know.

she sat on DUH curb and was only worried about her purse.what DIS is,is crazy.
too much sympathy for DUH crackheads and drunks and not NUFF jail time.she don't not need to be on DUH street for where she could kilt somebody elst..........REALLY? ....WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO? SHEESH......

I'm related to Ms. Boyd by marriage & just found out about the tragedy.I can understand everyones outrage but also being a christian it says in the Bible not to judge.First and foremost the family of the victim is in my prayers. I can only imagine the heartache they're feeling. Also Jerlenes in my prayers. This is a prime example of the terrible things that happen due to drugs and alcohol. If there's anything good that come from this I hope that it'll make people think before they drive impaired.

I WISH THEY WOULD DO AWAY WITH THE INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER B.S.!!! SHE VOLUNTARILY DRANK AND/OR WAS ON SOMETHING,SO SHE VOLUNTARILY KILLED SOMEONE...MURDER....THAT IS ALL IT IS.
I GUESS IF I WAS TICKED AT SOMEONE, I COULD GO GET DRUNK THEN SHOOT THEM,THEN I WOULD GET A LESSER SENTENCE BECAUSE I WAS DRUNK....THAT IS STUPID.....

I actually vote for a needle in her arm. She got behind the wheel of a vehicle after ingesting mind altering substances that in turn caused her to make a very poor decision and commit vehicular homicide to top it off. She may have been in an impaired state when she plowed into an innocent person's vehicle, but she made the decision to drink before driving to begin with.

Nope, Sorry to say. Out on $3000 bond. Spent 1.5hr in jail

Life in prison- nothing less for this murderer !
