On Friday, June 24, 2011 at 10:03 a.m., Tyler Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the 2600 block of South Broadway. Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle had pulled out of the U.S. Postal Service driveway heading northbound and struck a pedestrian in the inside northbound lane, as he was crossing the roadway towards the Post Office.

The pedestrian was identified as 63 year old, Larry Taylor, of Tyler. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital by EMS.

The driver of the vehicle was interviewed by police at the scene and was released. Taylor was found at fault for failing to yield the right of way.
