Tyler Police respond to a false report of an attempted child abduction

Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Tyler Police were called to a false report of an attempted child abduction early Sunday afternoon.
It happened at 1:35 p.m. when Tyler Police officers were called to a restaurant in south Tyler.
On arrival, officers were told that a ten year old boy had walked out of the restaurant to his father's car to retrieve a cell phone.
A white male approached the boy and tried to take him from a vehicle.
The boy screamed and fought back letting him to escape.
There were no witnesses to the incident and all the information about the incident came from the child.
During the course of the investigation, it was found that several of the statements by the boy did not make sense or even appear to be possible.
An an hour of investigation, the boy admitted to making up the story and that no one had attempted to abduct him.
The boy was unharmed and no charges were filed in this case.
