Tyler Police roll out new program

August 21, 2009 - 8:33pm

TYLER Labor Day is the last holiday of summer, and Tyler Police will be out in full force looking for drunk drivers. This year Officers will be trying a different approach; they are participating in a statewide program designed to grab your attention, and they say it's already turning heads.

I think this is a great idea for the time being. I think the police agencies in the dry areas of East Texas should have started doing this years ago. Anyone who doesn't see that a majority of the drunk driving accidents are occuring more frequently on the highways and byways to wet areas, or bars/restaurants, which is basically everywhere in Tyler/Smith County and all over East Texas, isn't looking at the situation realistically. Even when Tyler FINALLY decides to go wet, which it is GOING TO happen, we will see societies biggest problem fluctuate and decrease significantly more than it currently is in this bogus dry county. Think smart, vote wet.
