The Tyler Police Department is warning citizens of the current weather conditions. Don Martin, Public information officer for TPD says streets and roads are becoming more dangerous and the Tyler police department has had numerous reports of tree limbs falling on power lines, and falling to the ground. As a result many traffic lights are out in the Tyler, and surrounding areas. TPD advises if you approach a traffic signal that isn’t working properly please treat it as a four-way stop.

Officers also advise if you get into a minor car accident and there are no injuries, please do not contact the Tyler police department at this time. Instead, simply exchange insurance information, and if your car is drivable please proceed with caution.

The Tyler Police department has crews monitoring the roads and bridges closely, but say at this time no bridges have been closed. However, sand trucks have been deployed to handle the icy conditions. At this time officials are urging citizens to stay off the roads.
