Tyler Pounds Regional Airport landing system underway

Tyler Pounds Airport got the approval to make some changes to their airport.

Reports say, the Federal Aviation Administration offered a grant to fund improvements.

KETK spoke to the airport manager at Tyler pounds airport about these changes.

A new runway is the airport master plan.

Airport Manager of Tyler Pounds tells KETK,

The project  will include a full-length taxi-way and making a longer runway.

Dickson tells KETK, they are making environmental assessments to see how it will impact the runway.

He tells KETK, they're starting to plan.

"Want to update Smith County and the Commissioners Court because the project could involve relocation of the county roads slightly and that's something we want them aware of and they seem very supportive of it," says Davis Dickson, Airport Manager, Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.

Dickson adds, "What we are working on is looking at all the aspects of reconstructing our longest runway 4/22, as a part that we may relocate some of our precision instruments instrumentation," says Davis Dickson, Airport Manager, Tyler Pounds Regional Airport.
