Tyler Public Library undergoes renevations
Arp, Texas (KETK) — Today was day one of renovations on the Tyler Public Library. Fitzpatrick architects and TCMC Construction are leading the project, with library staff working hard to make sure the doors remain open to readers. The auditorium is the first to go.
"The auditorium is a great place for people to use for a public meeting space, but it is all torn up right now so we wont be making reservations for the auditorium through October," said Linda Gray, Youth Services Librarian.
Luckily for readers, other areas of the library are unaffected by the construction going on nearby.
"We can show a film, we can have a performer, we can have a speaker, and have all of those things going on, without disrupting what's going on in the library. They're in there just tearing stuff up, we've taken photographs, we're all just real excited to see the process started," Gray added.
The children's area is another section getting a lot of attention. New carpeting and lighting, brighter colors and a new story time area are just a few changes that kids will see.
"We're all excited to see how bright and enticing that is for the kids," said Mary Vernau, City Librarian. When construction moves inside, patrons should expect a louder environment, but library staff says they will be doing all they can to accommodate readers.
"It will get noisy in here as the work progresses," said Vernau.
