TYLER - A Tyler woman spent the night in jail after drinking, driving and then ramming her car into the Smith County Jail.

Tyler Police Sergeant Matt Smyser says 46-year old Jacqueline Harris drove up to the Smith County Jail on East Elm Street and parked in front of the sally-port doors.

After holding down on her horn, officers opened the sally-port door and Harris hit the gas speeding towards them.

However, she veered and crashed into a wall missing the officers.

Harris refused to get out of the vehicle.

After a few minutes Sergeant Smyser says she got out and pulled on the fire alarm.

Harris was booked on a DWI charge, and authorities say medication may have also played a role into the woman's disorderly conduct.
