TYLER — US 69 or South Broadway made #82 on TXDOT's '100 Most Congested List.'
Specifically the section from Grande to Kilrush -- which is down by Toll 49.
Mandy Jones has a disability...so she takes cabs and buses all over Tyler...
She says she spends a lot of her time on public transportation sitting in traffic.
So we asked her the same thing we asked many East Texans...got any suggestions?
"Maybe some bridges or...maybe some way that we can maybe get around to expand that just a little bit," Jones said.
We also posed the question on KETK's Facebook page...and got a lot of response.
Ronnie Greer says "The turn lanes in the medians at lights are much too short, causing left turn traffic to back up into the left lane. Add that to individuals in the right lane turning every 10 feet and the only moving lane is the center lane. What a mess."
Marlena Sanders says "Build overpasses and build businesses in other parts of Tyler besides the south. Why are they cramming everything on Broadway anyway?"
KETK spoke with TXDOT's Larry Krantz.
He says there is not much that can be done with Broadway as far as changing the actual roadway.
"It obviously can't be widened without damaging out businesses. Building an overpass would be cost prohibitive," Krantz said.
In the long term, Krantz says they're looking to Toll 49 to relieve some of the traffic for those whose destination is not Tyler but simply to pass through.

Deny illegals a driver's license = save lives, remove congestion.
anyone who can get a car or truck can and will drive. when i lived in CA i had a run in w a driver who
came from behind, and i was lucky enough to have a police car that saw the whole thing. that driver
had nothing, so he lost it all. and my tank of a car had no damage.
i believe that all who want to drive should. this includes illegals, w a change to the look of the card,
just like the under 21 drivers. make the wording on the card say, undocumented, not legal for voting,
its $ into dmv.
i must say this is the only place i have ever lived that you can make a U-Turn at a red light. And i noticed it slows down the left hand turn lane. Second why is the so little places that one can turn left? And yet there is a meridian! also i have found that you can not get from one shopping area to another due to barriers. Thus you have to get on Broadway probably have to go to a light make a U-turn travel past where you need to go, to the next red light and make another U-turn. It is redundant
Yes I do have a suggestion. Fire Larry (the liar) Krantz. Then employ someone who understands what the real needs are. Creating innovative plans and building roads that would divert traffic from the trouble spots. Larry Krantz seeems to think (Not Really) that building thousands of ramps for the disabled on the footpaths all over East Texas are critical projects. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE PERSON USE THESE MODIFICATIONS THAT MUST HAVE COST HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS - MAYBE MILLIONS. GOODYE LK!
