Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Dykes has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the next six seasons.

Athletic Director Bruce Van De Velde says the Bulldogs have made
"exemplary" progress since Dykes took over in 2010, and that the next step is for Louisiana Tech fans to step up their support of a
program that aims for greater national prominence.

Louisiana Tech won the Western Athletic Conference this season.

The Bulldogs' 8-4 record earned them an invitation to play 15th-ranked TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Wednesday
night.

Dykes says he thanks university administrators "for their commitment to build this program the right way."

Financial terms have not been disclosed. The extension is
pending approval from the University of Louisiana Board of
Supervisors.
