Lufkin, TX — Unemployment rates for Lufkin and Angelina County crept up slightly last month, according to data released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Angelina County saw the unemployment rate increase to 6.8 percent in May, after dipping to 6.4 percent in April. Likewise, Lufkin’s unemployment rate rose to 6.9 percent last month, as compared to 6.6 percent in April.

The slight increase was on par with the state’s numbers, which show Texas at 6.9 percent unemployment, up from 6.5 percent in April.
