If the Senate passes this bill for federal worker backpay, it will be the second time that Harry Reid and the Democrats have blinked to approve targeted, House-passed funding measures.

"The question is, why federal workers and the military, but not veterans, or workers at the National Institutes of Health or national parks and monuments," said Cruz.

"The senate Democrats position is untenable and plainly political. They want this shut down to win political points. We should move forward on those areas where we have agreement sooner than later."

Can't wait for the bloodbath on the right...stay tuned for round one, folks!

i THOUGHT ALL OF YOU REPUBLICAN / T-PARTIERS WERE SAYING OBAMA WOULD NOT ALLOW OIL DRILLING OR WAS NOT GIVING PERMITS TO OIL COMPANIES.

cruz should know that they voted to fund the military before the shutdown began....guess he just does not know how to tell the truth or for some reason he loves to mislead the brain dead Texans.
second the back pay does not go into play until the shutdown is over it is not funding anything during the shutdown big differance.

Why Cruz asks? He knows the answer. It's what Repubs in the House put together- they control the House. If he wants answers all he has to do is talk to Boehner. Ooppss - Boehner won't talk to him after his filibuster fiasco. The 1-termer Cruz is persona non grata to Repubs.
Repubs want to cut gov't waste yet, they pass a bill Specifically to pay gov't workers for NOT working. Go figure!?! They get paid for every workday congress does nothing!
