DPS officials tell KETK Trooper Drew Nipp's car was t-boned while trying to U-turn on Highway 271 for a traffic stop.

A truck headed in the same direction didn't slow down and hit the driver's side door.

Trooper Nipp was taken to a Longview hospital with minor injuries. The driver of truck was taken to a Gilmer hospital. His name has not been released and his injuries are unknown.

No charges have been filed as of this time.

 

An Upshur County trooper has been hospitalized following a two-vehicle wreck near Gilmer Friday morning.

According to the Upshur County Department of Public Safety, at around 11 a.m., a trooper was involved in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 271 just a few miles south of Gilmer

Trooper Drew Nipp is currently in a Longview hospital with unknown injuries.

Emergency crews are still on scene.
