Officials tell KETK the fire covered about 40 acres of ground.

It started about 2 p.m. and was contained by about 4:20 p.m.

Only one minor injury was reported.

The area was surrounded by oil wells, but firefighters were able to put out the blaze safely.


Wood County Emergency officials tell KETK that about 75 acres are burning off of FM 2225.

The call came in early in the afternoon on Wednesday.

Officials say there are six departments on scene, as well as the Game Warden and Texas Forest Service.

Emergency crews are trying to keep the blaze from several oil wells that are in the area by using plows and air assistance.

KETK has a crew en route and will bring you more information as it becomes available.
