UPDATE: 5th U.S. Circuit Court lifts stay for ETX death row inmate

UPDATE:  Wednesday, April 25th, 2012:  The United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit just lifted Beunka Adams stay of execution. Adams was scheduled to be executed on April 26th, 2012 for his role in a 2002 killing in Rusk, Texas.

An East Texas man who was scheduled to die by lethal injection Thursday has been given more time to live.  His reprieve, comes nearly a decade after being on death row for killing one and injuring two others in Rusk.  It's a day the Ansley family from Rusk has waited for since 2002--- convicted killer, kidnapper and rapist, Beunka Adams' execution.  But a phone call on Monday let them know Adams wouldn't be put to death this week and now they want answers.

Adams would not have had multiple appeals had not Elmer Beckworth lied to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals regarding the fabricated jailhouse testimony of William Elmer Thomsen -a convicted felon who worked a deal out with Beckworth for his own gun charges dropped for testifying about Cobb's/Adams' "conversations" in the Rusk, TX jail. The Federal Courts and Attorney General would not have to spend the time.
