TYLER POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

Tyler Investigators were informed by a local hospital staff around 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 01, 2010 that Alice Aguilar died as a result of her self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Tyler Police Investigate Homicide / Attempted Suicide

Tyler Police responded to 118 S. Beverly Street on a report of gun shots that came from inside the residence around 12:34 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010. When officers arrived on the scene they located an Hispanic female in Apartment #1 who had been shot lying on the floor. The victim was deceased upon officers arrival and was identified as Socorro Nunez, D.O.B. 09/29/1939.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and located her unconscious in the adjacent apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect is identified as Alice Aguilar, D.O.B. 6/01/1963. Aguilar was transported to East Texas Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition.

Investigators at the scene are attempting to determine the motives behind the deadly shooting.

TYLER - Authorities have released the identity of the two women involved in Tuesday's shooting in Tyler.

Police say 47-year-old Alice Alvarez Aguilar allegedly shot and killed 70-year-old Socorro Nunez.

TYLER - A Tyler Police Department officer tells KETK one Hispanic woman is dead with multiple gun shot wounds and another is in critical condition.

Investigators found the female suspect with a self-inflicted gun shot wound in a nearby apartment. She has been taken to a local hospital.

TYLER - Tyler Police report a fatal shooting in the city Tuesday afternoon. They say it began with an altercation between two Hispanic females at a house on Erwin and Beverly. Gunshots were fired and one of the women is now dead.

Police are combing the neighborhood for the shooting suspect now.
