(KETK) — The State Fair of Texas kicks off on Friday. That's when the "new and improved" Big Tex was supposed to make his debut.
However, mother nature decided she couldn't stand the anticipation. Winds picked up speed, causing the curtain that was hiding the State Fair icon to blow around hazardously.

He was expected to be revealed at 2:00 pm. on Friday, but fair operators decided to take the curtain down Thursday afternoon instead.
Last year, the famous anamatronic cowboy statue was destroyed in an electrical fire. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the blaze, except for Big Tex himself.
The giant cowboy's popular booming voice has welcomed Fair Park visitors for decades in Dallas.
Fair organizers have been working on a new and improved "Big Tex" all summer, and they say that Big Tex is in good shape and ready to greet the fair-goers!
His movements will all be revealed on Friday, as originally planned, but fair officials tell KETK that the movements will be much smoother than the old Big Tex.
KETK crews are in Dallas and we will have all the details tonight on KETK news at 10!
