UPDATE: Body of missing man recovered in Lake Cherokee

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Gregg County Sheriff officials tell KETK, the body of Kim Grounds has been recovered in Lake Cherokee.

The investigation will continue with the body going to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy.

 


TUESDAY UPDATE: The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, along with members of the Texas DPS, Texas Parks and Wildlife Service, Rusk County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Cherokee Patrol are investigating a missing person incident at Lake Cherokee.

Authorities are searching for Kim Grounds, 44,  of Mount Enterprise, who was visiting family members at the Lake. Mr. Grounds was boating with a friend when he became missing.

An investigation is also underway regarding the circumstances of the disappearance.


ORIGINAL REPORT: The Gregg County Sheriff’s Department is on the scene of a search and rescue operation on Lake Cherokee, according to Lt. Kirk Haddix.

Very little information is available at this time. The boat launch is on private land.

Initial reports indicate that a man and a woman were in a boat, and the woman came back to shore alone and reported that the man had fallen out of the boat.
