A Tyler woman involved in an accident that killed a Plano man is out on bond.
50-year-old Jerdene Boyd, Tyler, is connected in the crash that killed 55-year-old Robert Dane Bass. The crash happened at the intersection of Heritage Drive and South Broadway just after 1:00 p.m.
Police say Boyd was speeding and crashed into the Bass' car causing it to flip several times. Bass was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the accident remains under investigation, Boyd was initially arrested for possession of marijuana and another outstanding warrant in smith county.
She posted bond after only spending 2 and half hours in jail.

Dane (the victim) was a friend our family. A good guy. A committed Christian, a wonderful family - 2 grown kids. His brother-in-law was in tears when I spoke to him today. I can't imagine the grief of his wife and kids. We'll miss him.
I work in the building were the accident occured. My fiance was the first to try to help Mr. Bass, but soon realized it was too late. She was out of her car in minutes and sitting on the curb, never even tried to help him or see if he was ok. All that she was worried about was her purse in her car (I think that is were the dope was). She sat there for hours not worring about him! I am so upset that she killed this man and 2 and a half hours later she is out and could do this again.
Was she still considered to be fleeing from a traffic stop even though the pursuing officer had ceased an active chase; according to an earlier article on this subject?
If she was, should not that charge have resulted in a longer stay behind bars?
Two hours for killing a man? Was this person even charged for this man's death, or is her bond for the marijuana and the outstanding warrant?
What happened to the who, what, when, where, and why part of reporting??????
This is absolutely irritating!!! How can this happen. I am so upset with our judicial system who allows something of this magnitude--and she was able to bond out? My view of this is there should have been no bond set AT ALL!!!!!
I hope she doesn't hurt someone else before her indictment or trial, for if she does she has NO REASON to see the light of the next day. She has no reason to see the light of day with this accident that killed an innocent person. What is wrong with our society!!!
I was UNfortunate enough to have seen the vehicles after this accident. It shook me to my core. The vehicle driven by the man who lost his life was a mangled mess of white metal and steel not resembling a car in any way. I pray for his family. I pray that Boyd will get the help she needs so this does not ever happen again.
