UPDATE: Chair of Cherokee County Republican Committee arrested for theft, tampering with government records

CHEROKEE COUNTY — KETK's news partners, KTBB, report that Looney's charges are a result of his time with Adult Protective Services, and not with the Cherokee County Republican Party.
Looney is out of jail on a $20,000 bond.
KETK has learned that the chairperson of Cherokee County's Republican Committee, 56 year old Steven Looney, was arrested on Monday.
Jail records show Looney is charged with theft and tampering with government records.
Details regarding the alleged violations are limited at this time.
