UPDATE: Cherokee County Commissioner investigated

A Cherokee County Comissioner is under investigation for what under normal circumstances, would be nothing worse than a difference of opinion.
But in today’s political climate, nothing is that simple. Last night we spoke with County Judge Chris Davis about the good work the county has done in holding the line on spending and taxes in these recessionary times.
But there are tensions on the court that are boiling over. And they may lead to court.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Katherine Pinotti is a Republican, and others in county government are either current or former Democrats. That has created turmoil.
At issue is a road, now known as Patterson road, but Pinotti says, is actually a county road whose number was mistakenly applied to another thoroughfare.
But the County Attorney Craig Caldwell says he is investigating to see if county funds have been misspent repairing a private road.
We called Mr. Caldwell, who spoke to the local paper to get his side of the issue. He did not return our call.
County Judge Chris Davis told us he is not involved in this issue and had no comment.
Pinotti says though, this is becoming a witchhunt.
Meanwhile, there is another road in question. Old School Road in Bullard is mostly in Cherokee County, but ends in Smith County.
Pinotti is accused of paving that last stretch without proper agreements. She contends she followed the law.
