A Texarkana man died and two others were injured in a five-vehicle crash Monday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, at 8:08 a.m., a Chevrolet Equinox was headed west on Highway U.S. 67 in the left lane when it hit the back of a Saturn, which was in the process of turning into Daniel's Tire. The Equinox then bounced off the vehicle and struck a freightliner from behind in the right lane.

Following the previous collision, the Saturn ricocheted into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a Toyota traveling in the left eastbound lane on Highway 67. The Toyota was then spun into the right lane of eastbound traffic and was crashed into by a Chevrolet pickup.

The driver of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley. He has been identified as Jerry Lamb, 51, of Texarkana, Arkansas. His body was taken to the Texarkana Funeral Home.

Two more people were taken to a nearby hospital with cuts and bruises. Troopers identified them as Sonya Reed, 63, of Texarkana, Texas, and Felicia Mercer, 26, of Texarkana, Texas.

The uninjured drivers were Wendy Satterfield, 51, of Texarkana, Texas, and Warren McCoy, 51, of Texarkana, Arkansas.

Authorities shut down the road for about an hour following the wreck to reconstruct the accident. The Bowie County Sheriff's Office, TxDOT crews, Wake Village Fire and Liberty-Eylau Fire Department were also on scene.
