Update: Elderly pedestrian hit by SUV in Longview

Friday, 9:30 am UPDATE: Longview Police have released the following information about the elderly woman hit by a SUV:

On April 27, 2012 at 5:15 a.m., Longview Police responded to an Accident with injuries north of the intersection of West Loop 281 and Gilmer Road.

Officers were told that a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Charles Patrick McClain, of Longview, was traveling south on Gilmer Road. McClain stated he did not see the victim, 87-year old Mary Neal of Longview, crossing the roadway.

Neal was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center with serious, but non lifethreatening injuries.

At the time of this release no citations have been issued.


An elderly woman was taken to the hospital this morning after being struck by an SUV on Gilmer Road near Loop 281 in Longview.

The woman was walking in the middle of the roadway when she was struck. Her injuries are serious.

All lanes have reopened at this time. No one else was injured in the wreck. There is no word at this time on who was at fault.


Longview police officers have confirmed to KETK that they're working an accident at Gilmer Road and Loop 281 in Longview.

Intial reports indicate one person was injured in the wreck and was taken to a Longview hospital.
