Hooks, tx — UPDATE (Thursday, October 18th): A new charge has been filed against an East Texas police officer who was arrested over the weekend for allegedly stabbing his wife with syringes.
According to Bowie County Sheriff officials, the victim, Misty Gail Horn, is the wife of the officer.
Originally, it was believed that Hooks Police officer David Horn stabbed his wife with syringes filled with animal tranquilizer. However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that the syringes actually contained drugs used to euthanize animals.
Sgt. David Horn was arrested shortly before midnight on Sunday, after he allegedly stabbed his wife with the lethal drug at their home on Moss Lane.
His wife was flown to a nearby hospital and was last reported to be in intensive care.
The new information means an upgrade in charges for Sgt. Horn. He is now charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon to a family member, which is a first degree felony.
The original charge has been dropped, and Horn was arrested Thursday on the new charge.
His bond has been set at $1 million.
A second victim reported she was also attacked by Horn.
