From: Attorney representing Amy Cowling's family
The Gilmer, Texas based law firm of Tefteller, Newsom & Tefteller has been hired by the family of Amy Lynn Cowling, 33, who died while in custody at the Gregg County Sheriff's Department early Wednesday morning on December 29, 2010. The cause of her death is still under investigation by the Texas Rangers and local authorities.
Ms. Cowling was a single mother of three children and the daughter of Randy and Vicki Bankhead of Gilmer, Texas. Over a period of several days, Ms. Cowling's family and friends had repeatedly contacted the sheriff's office to inform them about Ms. Cowling's medical situation and that it was imperative that she be administered her physician prescribed medications, yet the family's requests were dismissed each time.
"We are extremely saddened by the loss of Amy and the grief that her parents and her three children are going through," said Jarom Tefteller. "We look forward to working with the Rangers and, rest assured, we will get to the bottom of this and find out what really happened to her."
