A fire destroyed an East Texas Medical Center storage building Saturday night in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville Fire and Earle's Chapel Volunteers responded to a structure fire around 9 p.m. Saturday night off of Bolton St. and Zimmerman Rd.

The fire completely destroyed the ETMC storage building.

"It was a two story 6,000 sq. ft. building and its total loss," said Jacksonville Fire Department Captain Ted Hunt.

Hunt told KETK the storage was filled with cabinets, doors and old hospitals beds.

Thankfully, no one was in the building during the time of the fire and no one was injured.

But, they still don't know what caused it to burn to the ground.

It took crews about an hour to contain the flames.

A couple viewers sent in pictures Saturday night of the blaze behind Trinity Assistant Living Home.

One of the nurses from Bonner Assistant Living was the one who called 911.

"I thought the nursing home was on fire cause I looked out and saw flames and it looked like it was directly over the home and I like panicked a little bit," said Director of Maintenance at Bonner Street Plaza David Johnson.

Johnson said nurses and an aide ran to Trinity to help them .

He said they gathered the 11 residents in Trinity up to the front of the home where it was safe. .

"In the meantime we offered them a safe place to come and stay until the fire was over or the smoked cleared, but Trinity Assistant Living was ok."

Nurses at Trinity told us the residents were a little shaken up, but everyone is ok.

And they are very thankful for Bonner's help.

"We kind of in Jacksonville here we're kind of like family and we look after one another here and it ended up no tragedies nobody hurt everything was fine," said Johnson.
