Smith County — Fire officials tell KETK, one man is being taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Two good Samaritans on the scene tell us, they stopped when they saw the house on fire, went to the back of the building, and saw a man sleeping in a back bedroom. The two passerbys knocked out the window and pulled the man out.

Fire officials also tell us, a dog died in the fire.

Several fire departments are still on the scene. The house is destroyed.

Fire crews are battling a house fire in Tyler on Farm to Market Road 2015 in Smith County.

It happened just after 5 o'clock late Friday afternoon.. just South of Interstate 20.

At least 3 fire departments are on scene.
